Each month, Headway in Research will feature one internal employee here at Headway Workforce Solutions. We will interview them to give you a more in-depth look into their job. This month we are featuring Shawnita Mays, one of Headway’s program leads! Shawnita is currently managing the large RTI Tobacco Consumer Study project.

What are your job duties?

I’m responsible for managing survey research projects and ensuring recruiters are finding quality candidates for the positions given to us by our clients.

How do you get through the work day? 

Music helps me out a lot! Specifically instrumental music like Sunlounger, Blackmill, and Emancipator. It is rather calming to balance out the anxiety that may arise throughout the work day.

Who’s your all-time favorite musical artist?

Jhene Aiko. Although it isn’t instrumental, I like the messages her music delivers.

Which do you prefer, the mountains or the beach?

I love the beach. The sound of the water is very calming and I like the way the sand feels between my toes.

What makes you smile?

Honestly, little simple things will make me smile. Someone randomly being nice, or pictures of puppies, kittens, and miniature goats.

Shawnita is sweet, but a bit nutty too!

I would have to say resourceful. I say that because, even when it seems like we may not be able to achieve a deadline or goal, we always find a way to do so!

If you were a candy bar, what would you be?

If I were a candy bar I would like to be a Snickers; Sweet, but a bit nutty too!
