James Guidotti: Headway Hero

Each month, Headway in Research will feature one internal employee here at Headway Workforce Solutions. We will interview them to give you a more in-depth look into their job. This month we are featuring, James Guidotti. James is a recruiter for Headway in Research projects. He most recently worked on the RetailData and Taylor Petition Management projects. Read on to find out more about James!

What are your job duties?

Nominally, my duties are to source, screen, and interview candidates for potential jobs. That said, a big part of it is getting a feel for their experiences and skills so as to put them in a position where they will succeed and stick. Finding that right fit for the candidate is really the ultimate goal of my day-to-day.

James stays busy at Headway but sometimes he needs his coffee fix to get through his mid-afternoon slump.

How do you get through the work day?

Staying busy is really the best way to get through the day. Building a connection with candidates ensures conversations don’t become rote and dry, and those connections make the day fly by. Although I would be lying if I didn’t admit I need a coffee to escape mid-afternoon lethargy.

Who’s your all-time favorite musical artist?

This is a dangerous and difficult question for a guy like me. I could turn this into some kind of thesis. With brevity in mind, I’ll go with the Black Keys. Those were some of the first songs I was ever able to play on a guitar and introduced me to the blues. Really, it was a big reason why I picked up music. Their first few records were life-changing for me when I was a kid.”

Which do you prefer, the mountains or the beach?

Mountains all day. That feeling of isolation in the mountains is very meditative for me. I hike frequently, so it’s a nice bonding activity with my dog.

What makes you smile?

Music, for sure. Playing music, listening to music, it doesn’t matter. I’ve had moments where I’ve broken out into uncontrollable laughter just because the song I’m listening to is so, so good. Ironically, the last time that happened I was listening to a band called ‘BadBadNotGood’.

Use one word to describe Headway:

Fun – the culture here is something that I’m lucky to be a part of. Even though the nature of this job can be stressful and throw complete curveballs at you, the people I work with are so down-to-earth and willing to lend an ear or crack a joke at a moment’s notice. People are so very unpredictable, and that includes co-workers. That variance makes me appreciate the fact I have a great group I work with. …Wait, should that have been one word?

If you were a piece of furniture, what would you be?

I would probably be a leather recliner – laid back, cool and collected, and an appreciator of classic aesthetics.
